Futurity & Open Rules

Homegrown Classic Stallion Incentive is a Futurity & Open Side Pot in conjunction with The Blitz, the biggest barrel race in the state!
Contestants must adhere to the rules set forth by The Blitz.
In order to enter the Homegrown Classic Futurity Side Pot, contestant must enter The Blitz Futurity.
In order to enter the Homegrown Open Side Pot, contestant must enter The Blitz Open or Derby.
Times will be taken off of the riders first run; therefore if an entrant runs in the Derby and the Open the time will be taken from the Derby.
A contestant may enter either the Futurity (with appropriate horse) or the Open but is not able to enter both classes in the same year.

Stallion Owner Payout
Stallion owner of winning offspring in each D, each day
Futurity 50% ($7,700 weekend or $3,850 per day) payout holes based on entries
Open 50% ($7,700 weekend or $3,850 per day) payout holes based on entries
Enrolled Stallions that are competing are eligible for the Stallion Incentive Money.
Stallions may run in the incentive as well as any age offspring they produce. If a stallion is enrolled and is running, and his sire is also enrolled, the stallion money will go to the stallion that is running at the event.
Stallion Enrollment Eligibility and Requirements
North Dakota born, OR currently standing/residing in North Dakota or within 300 miles of its border
Anyone can nominate a stallion (with permission of stallion owner)
Stallion owners will be given first right of refusal
Stallion incentive payout will go to whoever paid the stallion in
Deceased stallions are eligible
Annual renewal required to remain eligible
A currently enrolled stallion that moves outside the enrollment radius may remain eligible for the program as long as there is not a break in enrollment years. Once a break in enrollment occurs, that stallion is no longer eligible for the program unless he were to meet the 300 mile radius criteria again.
Stallion Auction
Enrollment fees are $350 or a donated breeding to the stallion auction
As long as the breeding sells in the auction the nomination fee is covered
Money raised with the $350 nomination fee, auctions earnings and Stallion of the Month fees will used towards Incentive payouts, average awards and incentive side pots.
Side Pot Eligibility and Requirements
Currently Enrolled Stallions and their offspring are eligible for the Side Pots
Futurity: 4 or 5-year-old horses that have not entered a barrel race prior to November 15th of the preceding year. A horse can only run in the Futurity Side Pot once.
Open - Any age horse
All horses must submit a copy of registration papers or proof of age signed by a licensed veterinarian at the time of entry submission. No exceptions.
Homegrown Classic sidepot entry fee $25 per day with that money going into the next years average awards for each class.
Vet Release / Horse Substitution Rules / Rider Substitution Rules
No changes can be made to the HomeGrown Sidepot entry once you have entered (except in cases of vet release)
Any changes to your entries for The Blitz must be made through The Blitz.

Total guaranteed payout to stallion owners and riders over the two day event is $22,000 for 2023.
30% of the total incentive money will be paid back to stallion owners and 70% will be paid to the riders.
*$500 amateur futurity bonus (rider must not have won prior amateur awards or $1000 in 1D futurity earnings).
